Olympic Research was created in 2012 to develop effective solutions to important energy and environmental challenges. Our philosophy blends applied science and engineering disciplines to evolve innovative, robust, high performance systems for challenging applications. Our staff’s technical competencies, derived from years of experience in physics, earth sciences, materials, and engineering, apply analytical and experimental methods to push the limits of conventional thinking.
ORI is presently developing high performance materials and emplacement systems to seal wells in challenging conditions. We use Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) processes to form ceramic sealing features in-situ, under water at great depths. Our initial research in this area is applied to the unique performance requirements of nuclear waste disposal, but has broad application in oil and gas, geothermal, and CO2 injection applications where corrosion, thermal cycling, and high temperature conditions challenge conventional components and materials. This project is supported by the US Department of Energy Small Business Innovation Research program.
